Abstract Through experiments on the rheological characteristics, mechanical properties, and durability of concrete with 50% and 100% replacement of natural sand by machine-made sand, this study explores the impact of machine-made sand on the performance of pipe concrete. The research shows that the addition of machine-made sand increases the yield stress of the concrete and reduces its plastic viscosity. The compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and chloride ion penetration resistance of the concrete have significantly improved with the increase of the amount of machine-made sand. Furthermore, a linear relationship is observed between dynamic elastic modulus and compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and electric flux. This indicates that dynamic elastic modulus can serve as a non-destructive testing indicator, providing a reference for the evaluation of compressive strength, splitting tensile strength and electric flux. The findings of this study can offer valuable insights for the application of machine-made sand in pipe concrete.
