Abstract:This study investigates sucrose (SU) as a cement dormancy agent to delay the setting time by inhibiting the early hydration reaction of cement. Simultaneously, aluminum sulfate (AS) and calcium formate (CF) are introduced as activators to restore the normal hydration process of the cement. The research explores the effects and mechanisms of the dormancy-activation treatment on cement paste and hydration products. The experimental results demonstrate that the addition of 0.1% SU effectively suppresses the hydration of cement paste, while the incorporation of AS and CF counteracts the retarding effect of SU. The combined use of AS and CF further accelerates cement hydration, restoring its normal setting time. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TG-DTG) results reveal that the dormancy-activation treatment effectively promotes the formation of early hydration products, enhancing the compressive strength of mortar. When 2.0% AS and 1.5% CF are co-added, the compressive strength of the mortar reaches the optimum, with increases of 21.0% and 25.7% at 3 days and 7 days respectively. The experimental results provide relevant theoretical support and reference basis for the recycling and reuse of waste cement mortar.
