Abstract:The air-cooled blast furnace slag has low hydration activity. In the industrial trial of a cement production enterprise, air-cooled blast furnace slag was used as the mixing material to produce blended cement. It was found that the content of slag powder in cement is usually below 30%. This article proposed a technical approach of combined activation through ultrafine grinding and chemical stimulation. The grinding process was transformed to achieve ultrafine grinding of air-cooled blast furnace slag, and the effects of grinding process parameters on the particle size and activity index of slag powder were investigated. When the specific surface area of the slag powder was 650 m2/kg, the 28d activity index reached 88.4%, which was 26.2% higher than the raw slag powder. Regarding chemical stimulation, the study examined the types and dosages of activators, as well as the effects of multicomponent compounding on the activity of slag powder. Ultimately, the composite activator was prepared with sodium sulfate, potassium aluminum sulfate and triethanolamine as the main components. The introduction of 1.5% composite activator during the mineral powder grinding process can increase the 7d activity index by 16.9%.
