Abstract To address the bottleneck issues of high limestone resource consumption and large calcination energy consumption in traditional Portland cement clinker production, this study innovatively utilizes calcareous slag derived from acid production from phosphogypsum to partially substitute limestone raw materials. A preparation process for calcium sulphoaluminate modified Portland cement clinker was developed. Through systematic optimization of raw material ratio and calcination system, the effects of calcareous slag substitution ratio, alumina modulus, and calcination temperature on the mineral composition and burnability of the clinker were investigated. This process significantly reduces the calcination temperature and exhibits both resource-saving and environmentally friendly characteristics. It provides a new pathway for the efficient utilization of low-grade limestone and phosphogypsum
