Abstract In order to improve the anti-carbonization ability of reclaimed coarse aggregate, high anti-carbonization coarse aggregate was obtained by surface modification technology, and it was used to prepare C40 concrete. The results indicated that the strength of the regenerated aggregate was 3.53 MPa, and the strength of the modified regenerated aggregate by water glass was 5.48 MPa, which increased by 55%. The modified aggregate was carbonized for 12 h and 24 h, the strength was increased to 5.57 MPa and 5.93 MPa, which increased by 1.6% and 8.2%, respectively. After carbonization for 36 h, 48 h and 60 h, the strength was maintained at 101.2%, 85.0% and 74.6% of the strength without carbonization. The C40 concrete prepared with recycled aggregate had a compressive strength of 41.1 MPa at 28 days, which became 34.8 MPa after 24 hours of carbonization. The strength after modification was 42.2 MPa, which became 45.2 MPa after 24 hours of carbonization, which meets the performance requirements of C40 concrete. This research has existing application value and theoretical significance, and is expected to be applied in large-scale engineering.
