Abstract:With the continuous increase of global energy demand, the development of deep and ultra deep oil and gas resources has been promoted, and cementing cement slurry is facing more and more harsh environments such as high temperature and pressure. However, conventional sand-containing oil well cement can’t meet the existing engineering requirements. This article used zircon to modify sand-containing oil well cement, explored the influence of zircon on the high temperature performance of cement slurry and cement stone, and analyzed its mechanism through microscopic testing. The results indicated that zircon has an improvement effect on the performance of cement slurry when the dosage is less than 10%. Compared with the sand-containing oil well cement, the high-temperature strength of cement stone is improved, the permeability and porosity are reduced, and the high-temperature performance of the system is enhanced. The microscopic test results showed that a small amount of zircon can promote the hydration of the sand-containing oil well cement, improve the strength and high temperature resistance of the cement stone, but excessive zircon hinders the generation of hydration products, leading to serious deterioration of the performance of the cement slurry system. The main reason is that a small amount of zircon can not only provide crystallization points for hydration products, promote the formation of hydration products, it can also be used as a filling material to fill the pores between hydration products. On the contrary, excessive addition of zircon not only causes agglomeration, but also adheres to the surface of other substances and hinders hydration.
