Abstract The large-scale application of alternative fuels in cement production to save energy and reduce carbon emissions has led to increased fluctuations of carbon monoxide concentrations in kiln systems, and excessive air supply has increased energy consumption.Based on the thermal balance analysis and practical test data, this paper systematically proposes an optimal control method for the induced draft fan that allow moderately incomplete combustion in the environment of high substitution ratio of coal.The implementation results proved that this strategy effectively improved the energy efficiency of the plant by optimizing the carbon monoxide and oxygen levels with the control system and refining the air supply.
