Abstract Shale gas as a kind of clean and efficient unconventional energy, its mining process needs fracturing operations, which puts forward high toughness requirements for cementing cement. In this paper, the mechanical properties and microstructure of wollastonite fiber reinforced shale gas cement were studied. The experimental results showed that shale gas cementing cement has better compressive strength and flexural strength. The addition of wollastonite fiber is conducive to improving the mechanical properties of the cement stone, so that the cement stone has better toughness, and the best content of wollastonite fiber is 5%~10%. Through microscopic testing analysis, the reason why wollastonite fiber can enhance the mechanical properties of cement stone is that on the one hand, in hydration reaction, wollastonite fiber consumes calcium hydroxide to form hydrated calcium silicate during the hydration reaction and improves its adhesion with cement matrix. On the other hand, when the cement is cracked by external forces, the wollastonite fiber can deflect the development of cracks and hinder the expansion of cracks, thus the wollastonite fiber plays the role of toughening and cracking.
