Abstract Particle characteristic parameters of ferroaluminate cement with various fineness were tested by sieving,
air permeability and laser diffraction methods. The test results of different methods were compared and analyzed, and
the influence of fineness on the physical properties of cement was studied. The results showed that it had a good linear
relationship between Blaine specific surface area and specific surface area calculated by laser particle size method of
ferroaluminate cement. However, it had a poor corresponding relationship between the residue on sieve results determined
by negative pressure sieve and calculated results by laser particle size method. Particle size distribution of ferroaluminate
cement with various fineness conforms to the RRSB model, and it has a power function relationship between Blaine specific
surface area and the product of characteristic particle size and uniformity coefficient. With the increase of fineness, the setting
time of ferroaluminate cement is decreasing, the strength is increasing and it has a good correspondence between the setting
time and strength and Blaine specific surface area of ferroaluminate cement.
