Abstract:Cement was widely used in grouting engineering for displaying good combination properties, but it also comprises Cr(Ⅵ), which could be directly brought into surface water and groundwater via constructions. This paper analyzed the current content of Cr(Ⅵ) in cement and focused on a large reservoir’s curtain grouting project to study the groundwater influenced by cement grouting. The results revealed that Cr(Ⅵ) at amount of 2.39 mg/kg in cement would cause the soluble Cr(Ⅵ) of groundwater out of the standard for two months. Cement contained Cr(Ⅵ) was a continuous water soluble Cr(Ⅵ) pollutant in the process of grouting and intermittent pollutant after hardening. It would increase the risk of serious pollution to the groundwater as the main material for a large scale grouting project.
