Abstract:Proper disposal of waste concrete is an important issue in urban solid waste treatment. It is an effective strategy that improving resource utilization and reducing construction waste by recycling waste concrete. In this work, water jet was introduced into the field of old building demolition and waste concrete recycling. The application potential of the recycled concrete components and the recycled coarse aggregates by water jet demolition was investigated, and the effects of fracture surface roughness on the connection performance of the recycled concrete components were analyzed. The results showed that the residual compressive strength of the recycled concretes after water jet demolition was 91% to 98%, which demonstrated that the effect of water jet demolition was negligible. The fracture surface roughness of the recycled concrete was between 1.10 and 1.31. The rough surface caused by water jet demolition was favorable for the connection performance of recycled concrete components. The coarse aggregates and the cement mortar could be efficient separation under the impact of water jet, and the attached mortar content of the recycled coarse aggregates was less than 10%.
